I've had four days off and it's been heavenly. Haven't thought about day job once.
Truth be told, I had planned on doing some heavy duty writing and editing around this time, but it's not working out that way. And instead of lambasting myself, I've gotten into this new habit of just enjoying the present and quit worrying about the future. It is what it is. I've been happy since I started doing it.
Actually, let's talk about habits: those I do, those I need to go back to doing, and the ones I will never, ever do.
Habits I Do Now
1-Drink a glass of water in the morning and at night. Sleep, for me, can be dehydration central. The one glass right before bed time is especially helpful because I'm forced to get out of bed to pee in the morning.
2-Relax. After a long day, I love to get into pajamas, have an alcoholic beverage, lie down and watch YouTube videos. I tell myself, "You did all you could today. Whatever didn't get done is gonna have to wait till tomorrow. You are only one woman. You can go back to conquering the world tomorrow."
3-Eat more green shit. Paul went vegan, and since I'm too lazy to make my own food, I ended up going vegan too. And yeah, I guess lately I have been feeling pretty damn good, but I'm not a strict vegan. Hell, no. I'll still eat a burger if it's on the menu.
4-Avoid comparison. It actually helps if I don't even think it's an option for me. I'd rather just focus on doing something to make someone happy. Or dance around. Or pet Max. Or plant something.
5- To do lists. It helps me get my anxiety under control. I wake up panicked, convinced everyone in the whole world has left the planet and forgot me behind.
6-Time outdoors. Getting my ass off that chair and breathing in some fresh air gives me a perspective reminder: That it's all bullshit, folks, and we're all going to die so stop taking life so seriously and laugh more.
7-Read More. Hahaha. I don't need to read more, believe me, it's my super power.
8-Prepare for tomorrow tonight. Getting my lunch packed, my coffee ready, and my outfit decided on night before really helps me in the morning. There are too many decisions that need to be made that first waking hour.
9-Ditch makeup a few days a week. It's good to let the skin breathe. Slap on some clay masks, maybe steam up the skin, exfoliate, use a toner, and then go bare faced. Well, except for brows. One must always do the brows.
10- Avoid soda. Soda is the devil. There is not ONE single benefit to drinking soda. Doesn't even quench thirst when you think about all the sodium in that shit.
Habits I Need to Try (Again)
1-Writing on a grateful journal- I was happier.
2-Meditate- I was calmer.
3-Write down monthly goals- I was more focused.
4-Move your body and work up a sweat- My clothes fit better.
5-Keep a tidy home-if I see a mess, I get stressed.
6-Stop shopping - If you are sad, do something else. Do not go online and start piling up that cart. YOU HAVE ENOUGH SHIT.
7-Stop venting- You know it's a bad idea to recount a bad day. Venting is bad. You're just creating neural pathways that get stronger and stronger thanks to dopamine reward.
8- Yoga- Your joints are starting to hurt. You need to help yourself not hurt. Do the yoga again.
9- Pilates- Gotta fix that core. Food baby is taking over. Think of those unforgiving sheath dresses that require you to have a waist.
10- Write everyday- You used to do this all the time. Why have you stopped? It's Drano for the brain. C'mon, even blogging is something. Gotta keep that faucet running.
Habits I Will Never Ever Try
1-Get up earlier- hahahaha
2-Nix coffee- Hahahaha. "Nix Coffee." Don't be a dumb-ass, that ain't happening.
3-Nix alcohol- *Doubled over with laughter.* Hahahahaha. *Falls off chair to the floor. Oh, God, stop, you're making my stomach hurt.
4- Spend less than 10 dollars when I go into Target. I dare you. I double dog dare you.
5-Drink 8 glasses of water a day. No. This is bullshit. Drink water when you're thirsty. I once treated a woman with hyponatremia from water intoxication. Yeah, she had too much water.
6-Take vitamins. I'm really not into creating expensive urine. I'd rather buy shoes.
7- Go to sleep without removing make-up- Eww.
8- Drink whole milk- Again. Eww.
9- Go organic- Yeah, I don't care. Give me that GMO shit. An apple is an apple.
10- Give up ice cream or bacon. Yeah, that ain't happening. I'll give up donuts and hot dogs, but no, not ice cream or bacon. A woman has to draw a line somewhere.
I will try to work on those again habits. I want to be better.
